Servos – the heart of every RC system
Servos are a central component of the RC system and form the basis of every remote-controlled model. They are responsible for transmitting the control commands from the transmitter to the model precisely and reliably.
Connected via the steering linkage, RC servos convert stick or rotary movements on the transmitter directly into steering movements on the vehicle. In RC combustion engine vehicles, servos are also used as throttle servos: they control both the throttle valve of the carburetor and the brake.
A servo that is too weak leads to longer positioning times under load and a significantly shortened service life. That's why the following rule applies in RC model building: Never skimp on the servo! A high-quality servo does not have to be expensive, but it increases reliability, improves handling, and often lasts for many years in use.
